The 4 exercises within each chapter start with one to lay foundations, two; taking aim, then acting or shifting, and closing with release and review.

how long does the journal take to complete?

1.

it is recommended to focus on 1 exercise per week, which would total 28 weeks 

though the most important thing is that attention and time are put into the exercises.. so however you can ensure that - there is no strict format, this is your journal - complete it as you wish!
